CBP Clarification on CAPE and FTZ Type 06 Entries – April 17, 2026

NAFTZ has received helpful clarification from CBP regarding CAPE and FTZ Type 06 entries as a result of a recent NAFTZ meeting with CBP in Washington, DC.
As a follow-up to our earlier update, CBP indicated that Type 06 entries are expected to be accommodated in the CAPE system and did not identify any special instructions or separate restrictions specific to FTZ entries at this time. CBP further indicated that, so long as members are properly set up to receive ACH refunds through ACE, they should be positioned to utilize the process.
This is welcome clarification for the U.S. FTZ community. Based on the information provided, members should not assume there is a separate FTZ-specific limitation on CAPE filing for Type 06 entries.
Please Note: When evaluating tariff announcements, carefully review each Executive Order, the corresponding Federal Register Notices, and CSMS messages in detail. Consult with your trade attorney or advisor to understand how these measures specifically impact your U.S. FTZ operations.

According to CBP, these webinars will provide guidance on how to navigate the CAPE tab and complete the submission process from start to finish. CBP has advised members to register for only one session, as both webinars will cover the same content. Attendance is first-come, first-served, and CBP has also indicated that replays will later be made available through its Trade Outreach Webinar page.
