In August, Conair Corporation, Foreign-Trade Zone (FTZ) 75A, developer and manufacturer of health and beauty products, and kitchen and electronic appliances announced expansion plans to add a new one million square foot facility to its existing Glendale campus. The $40 million expansion will increase the total campus size to 2.3 million square feet and will add approximately 300 new jobs to the already 400 existing employees. Construction is expected to be completed by July 2017.
Conair received authorization from the Foreign-Trade Zones Board for a FTZ designation in 1991 and built its existing warehouse distribution facility in 1992 on approximately 100 acres of land. The company subsequently expanded in 2009 adding a national return center to its campus. For 25 years, Conair has continuously added positive economic growth to the local and regional community by increasing its operations using the FTZ program to enhance its global competiveness.
“Conair is extremely pleased to announce the creation of a new 1 million square foot state-of-the- art distribution center, with an internal three-level mezzanine” said Conair Senior Vice President John Mayorek. “The expansion will bring hundreds of permanent jobs to the area and reaffirm its longstanding commitment to the city of Glendale and all its residents.”
Conair is headquartered in East Windsor, New Jersey, with sales and marketing offices in Stamford, Connecticut. The company has large distribution centers in East Windsor, Glendale, Arizona and a manufacturing facility in Rantoul, Illinois.
