Participate in the NAFTZ Mentorship Program

June 7, 2022

As an NAFTZ member, you know that community is the defining feature of our association. The Mentorship Program is a resource designed to enhance your membership experience by providing you with personal and professional support. For members with experience in the industry, the mentor-matching program is a great way to “give back” and share your insights. We invite you to participate in this initiative as an added dimension to your professional development within the association. The mentorship program was sparked by demand from our membership and created through guidance from the Membership Committee. Take advantage of this ongoing opportunity available to Grantee and Operator/User members only!

Expectations

The mentorship program is a six-month commitment. All mentors and mentees must have their NAFTZ memberships in good standing. At the onset of the program, mentees and mentors are encouraged to set goals and expectations. NAFTZ is working on securing time and space to meet at the 2022 Annual Conference & Expo, thus, attendance to this event is strongly encouraged to meet your match in-person, network and make connections at the start of the event.

As a mentor you:

  • Have at least 5 years of experience within the foreign-trade zone industry
  • Make monthly contact with your mentee whether it be by phone, virtual calls, emails and other outreach
  • Share articles and other publications that might be of interest to your mentee
  • Share relevant resources and conferences that may be of interest

Mentor Application

As a mentee you:

  • Are open to learning and exploring new ideas
  • Take initiative in developing a professional relationship with your mentor
  • Ask questions, engage, and take charge of your own professional development

Mentee Application

Applications are due June 13. The Membership-Mentorship Subcommittee will review the request and assign you with the “best fit” mentor or mentee. An email will be sent to the mentor first to ensure they can meet the needs of the mentee. Once approved, an introduction email will be sent to both the mentor and mentee to begin the program on July 11, 2022 through the end of the year.

Participate in the program and start making a difference in the industry!
