The National Association of Foreign-Trade Zones (NAFTZ), a non-profit trade association located in Washington, DC, is seeking a full-time Senior Manager of Communications and Member Services. Reporting directly to the NAFTZ President, the Senior Manager of Communications and Member Services will support the development and implementation of a communications and membership strategy that provides members of the association a meaningful, engaging, and satisfying experience.
This role requires strategic, entrepreneurial, and mission-focused approaches to member acquisition, retention, and services through effective relationship building and member/volunteer relations. It will entail working across departments to strategize and produce effective communications and materials that drive increases in membership and enhance the visibility of the Foreign-Trade Zone program and the association. The position also involves designing innovative approaches to communications and leveraging traditional and new media opportunities. In addition to playing a pivotal role in the overall NAFTZ communication strategy, the Senior Manager of Communications & Member Services will manage NAFTZ’s blog and monthly e-newsletter and, if needed, may also serve as an external spokesperson for membership initiatives. This position will involve occasional business travel.
The Senior Manager of Communications and Member Services will, among other things, work closely with the President, other staff, and appropriate NAFTZ committees to:
•Enhance NAFTZ’s profile and role as a key influencer in alignment with NAFTZ’s mission, goals, and strategic plan;
•Increase membership and retain existing members;
•Ensure optimal function of the NAFTZ membership database and member communications;
•Respond to inquiries from current and prospective members and track results.
•Assist the Finance Department on all financial transactions related to membership
•Work with the President and vendors in the drafting and production of an NAFTZ monthly newsletter, annual report, website content, press releases and other media content, and informational/promotional materials.

•Minimum 3 years of trade association experience in membership and communications
•Advanced skills in use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
•Experience with database software, association-management systems (AMS), social-media management, and web-content maintenance
•Excellent organization and time-management skills with demonstrated ability to handle and prioritize multiple projects effectively and efficiently in a deadline-oriented environment
•Strong written and verbal skills in communication with leadership, members, and vendors
•Strong interpersonal skills and commitment to customer-service to assist NAFTZ members and work effectively with staff, vendors, and volunteers
•Flexibility to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
