Election to the NAFTZ Board of Directors and Officers
Nominations for election to the 2017-18 Board of Directors close on July 14 at 5:00 p.m. EDT
You can help NAFTZ continue to advance its mission to be the FTZ program’s principal educator and leader in demonstrating the program’s value as an economic development tool for job creation, international trade, and investment. With many new initiatives on the horizon, NAFTZ needs and welcomes the enthusiastic participation of its members on the Board of Directors and Officers. In 2017, NAFTZ members will elect four Executive Committee Officers and six Directors.
The NAFTZ Bylaws provide that Officers serve terms of one year and that Directors serve terms of two years. Directors can be re-elected provided that they shall not serve more than five years during any six-year period. The Bylaws also provide that at least three members of the Board of Directors shall be representatives of Zone Grantees, including grantee applicants. The Officers of NAFTZ are the Chairman, Vice Chairman, Treasurer, and Secretary.
The terms of the following Officers are expiring in 2017:
• Trey Boring, Service Provider, President
• Rebecca Williams, Service Provider, Vice Chair
• Cornelia Steinert, Operator, Treasurer
• Kenneth Carlstedt, Operator, Secretary
Directors with expiring terms not eligible to serve an additional two-year term, but eligible to move into the Executive Committee:
• Frankie Bryson, Operator
• Bill Carr, Operator
• Melissa Irmen, Service Provider
Directors with expiring terms who are eligible to serve another term (or terms) and also eligible to move into the Executive Committee:
• Angie Atwood, Grantee
• Lesley Couch, Service Provider
• Shannon Fura, Service Provider
In total, four Executive Committee Officers and six non-Officer Directors will need to be nominated. For succession planning purposes, Directors who are eligible and willing to serve additional terms are often encouraged to do so. However, the Nominating Committee is not required to re-nominate Directors or Officers wishing to serve another term.
NAFTZ members who are the Designated Representative of their organization and have their organization’s support to serve on the NAFTZ Board of Directors (attend all three Board Meetings in person and participate in all Board monthly conference calls) are encouraged to apply. All nominees must submit a completed application form by 5 p.m. EDT on July 14, 2017. Please contact Jarmila Zapata to confirm receipt of your application.
