FTZ Product Support and Development Supervisor II

Job Description:

The Foreign Trade Zones Solutions Design and Implementation (SOLDI) Supervisor II creates and supports purpose built solutions for the UPS Foreign Trade Zones solution space and generates non-package revenues. They strengthen customer relationships through enabling UPS to be a single-source provider of managed trade services, transportation and supply chain related needs and consulting. This position manages internal and external FTZ solutions end-to-end, provides subject matter expertise, and coaches solution delivery team members and customer-facing counterparts.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Reviews Resource Engagement Documents (i.e., details of customer requirements) to create work orders outlining tasks to be performed for sign-off by customers
  • Gathers and analyzes data and interviews and observes users/stakeholders to determine needs and specifics for providing the best solutions
  • Presents solutions to users/stakeholders outlining final deliverables, cost justification, and added value to quantify and justify recommended solutions and to reassure customers of the viability of solutions
  • Manages solution delivery project lifecycles, including resources, schedule, building, and deployment to see projects from beginning-to-end
  • Coordinates project documents with Solution Delivery Manager for stakeholders to obtain sign-off, agreement on project cost, and needed resources
  • Develops Solution Delivery project plans (i.e., detailed plan, milestones, and work breakdown structures) and assigns tasks to resources to ensure that the project will be completed on time and according to specifications
  • Estimates the resources required based on project scope to provide the sales team with resource, time, and cost requirements for pricing contracts and determining desirable returns on investments
  • Researches and evaluates industry trends and best practices to enhance UPS’s ability to meet and exceed customer expectations and provide leading edge solutions
  • Develops training materials for related groups (e.g., Sales, other Business Development groups, etc.) and new team members to provide clear instruction on the steps involved in developing and implementing customer solutions
  • Conducts training on customer solutions and new concepts and tools to enhance the understanding of and the ability to sell customer solutions
  • Reports on project status, field resource activity, and training initiatives to keep senior management informed of progress and developments

Knowledge and Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent composition and creative writing skills
  • Knowledge of processes, procedures, and flow diagrams
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business or Industrial Engineering – Preferred
  • Experience in Supply Chain and Logistics – Preferred
  • Certified Project Management Professional – Preferred
  • Demonstrated proficiency with .NET programming for multi-threaded processing and Web development – Preferred
  • Experience in database stored procedure programming, T-SQL or PL/SQL – Preferred
  • Experience with Data Modeling/Data Analytics – Preferred
  • Knowledge of process and procedure documentation and flow diagrams (IDEF) – Preferred
  • Experience with EDI transport layers (SFTP/AS2/VAN) – Preferred
  • Experience with EDI platforms, transformations and/or mapping (BizTalk) – Preferred
  • Experience configuring IIS as a platform for web services – Preferred
  • Experience with user interface design/development – Preferred
  • Experience with report design/development – Preferred
  • Experience in process engineering – Preferred

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or National of the U.S., an alien lawfully admitted for permanent residence, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. for this employer

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) or be a current UPS employee with three years of UPS experience
  • Must have demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (Access, Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
