Foreign-Trade Zone Implementation Project Manager

Job Description:

The Foreign-Trade Zone Implementation Project Manager manages the overall project implementation for the on-boarding of new and penetration business. This includes project communications, project planning, risk mitigation, resource coordination, issue resolution, training and other tasks required to successfully go-live. The FTZ Implementation Project Manager works with Business Development, Operational stakeholders, and customers to identify implementation criteria, and acts as the primary contact throughout the project’s implementation.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Manages project lifecycles, including project scope, resources, schedule, initiation, start-up design, building, and deployment to see projects from beginning-to-end
  • Performs analysis of detailed customer requirements to ensure compliance (i.e. imports and exports) with customs requirements
  • Develops plans to analyze the impacted operations location and to evaluate findings and compare current models
  • Develops initial training to support field tests for the projects products and processes
  • Controls completion of project deliverables to ensure they remain within the timeline
  • Gathers and evaluates findings from implementation statistics and feedback to ensure accurate comparison to the current models
  • Enlists stake holders to define criteria and constraints associated with implementation scope and deployment strategy to ensure an effective project implementation

Knowledge and Skills

  • High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for client-facing and internal communications
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and project management tools
  • Ability to take initiative and work under deadlines with minimal direction
  • High energy level, positive attitude, professional demeanor
  • Attention to composing, proofing and presenting materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with demonstrated skills to juggle multiple competing tasks and demands
  • Demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy
  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) in Business or Engineering – Preferred
  • 4+ years’ FTZ experience – Preferred
  • Knowledge of integrated supply chain management – Preferred
  • Previous project management experience – Preferred
