The Grantee Committee serves to express the common interests and needs of the more than 250 Grantees in the FTZ program, and assist Grantees in successfully promoting and improving FTZs and their use. The Petroleum Committee strives to act as the voice and central point of contact for members of the petroleum and petrochemical communities. As part of this mission, the Committee collects and disseminates pertinent Foreign-Trade Zone information to all industry members active in sub-zones. The Committee also keeps abreast of current industry issues relevant to the Foreign-Trade Zone program, and develops common industry positions to secure a positive FTZ environment for all petroleum and petrochemical members. To ensure the FTZ experience remains positive and beneficial to the industry, the Committee also fosters communication and understanding between its members and all relevant authorities and agencies, including Customs and Border Protection. The NAFTZ User Committee was established as a forum for NAFTZ users to network and to review issues and proposed legislation that may impact users in foreign-trade zones. Members of the committee are tasked with developing the agenda for roundtable discussions at seminars and conferences, addressing operational challenges, and presenting issues and legislative changes that will impact FTZ operations to the NAFTZ Board of Directors for potential support and action. NAFTZ Members are welcome to approach the Committee with issue(s) they would like to have addressed. Although the Committee cannot provide advice, they will review suggestions for forwarding to the NAFTZ Board. The scope of their authrority spans from event, website, and publication sponsorship as well as membership. The committee works with the Board of Directors and the NAFTZ staff to develop revenue generating policies that ensure the continued financial growth of the Association. A slate of candidates is presented at the Annual Business Meeting at the Annual Conference. The Nominating Committee Chair and Committee Members are selected by the President of the Board. The composition of the Committee varies from election to election and the Committee manages the entire candidate selection process. Over the past year the Automation Task Force, in cooperation with a high-level technical team from CBP, has successfully worked to automate the FTZ admission process. This is a significant accomplishment. The task force will continue to work through the TSN with CBP and its contractors to develop a secure, efficient and cost effective ACE account portal and reporting structure at the earliest date possible. The NAFTZ Membership Task is committed to building the NAFTZ membership base and retaining current members. It's work includes raising the awareness of the FTZ program, clearly communicating to the FTZ community the substantial benefits of NAFTZ membership, the significant accomplishments of the organization and NAFTZ's high member ratings on a wide range of performance measures.

The task force has been organized to reach out to the 3PL, customs broker and logistics communities to inform them of the business opportunities afforded by the new e-214 process and the total value their business will realize when automation is combined with other FTZ program benefits. These communities will be encouraged to attend programs, become NAFTZ members and add their expertise to efforts aimed at improving FTZ services.

Two years ago NAFTZ set a long range planning goal for an "initiative to shape the future of the FTZ program to retain and attract U.S. Based economic activity". The job of the new task force is to advance this objective in a number of ways: through improvements in existing benefits; through new incentives which add domestic value for both manufacturing and international distribution operations; and , through a review of existing statutes to see if some modifications in the statutes are appropriate.
