The 2015 Legislative & Regulatory Seminar, “FTZs: Leading the Economic Expansion – Jobs, Exports, and Investment,” is shaping up to be a great event which will highlight the trade policy agendas of Congress and the Administration, with a special focus on the implications they will have on the Foreign-Trade Zone community.

Our annual Legislative and Regulatory Seminar brings NAFTZ members face-to-face with top decision makers in Washington DC to discuss key public policy issues affecting the Foreign-Trade Zone community. The program consists of one full day of educational sessions, including a panel discussion with key officials. Past seminars have included presentations from Andrew McGilvray, Executive Secretary at the U.S. FTZ Board, DAC David Murphy from U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Congressman Bill Owens, New York, 21st Congressional District.

2/11 CONGRESSIONAL VISITS

The NAFTZ has designated Wednesday, February 11, as the NAFTZ Congressional Visit Day. We strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to meet with your federal legislators and their staff. This is your opportunity to discuss the FTZ program and brief Congress on the issues that are important to your zone operation.In order to assist you in this process, NAFTZ will offer an orientation session for members who intend to meet with their representatives. Smith Dawson & Andrews, our public affairs advisor, will host a webinar to assist you in preparing for the meeting. General guidelines, talking points, and materials will be provided. The orientation webinar will take place Tuesday, January 27, at 2 p.m. EDT. Call in information will be distributed to those interested.If you plan to make Hill visits, please start scheduling your meetings right away! NAFTZ staff is happy to help you with any assistance you may require. For your convenience, we have drafted sample meeting request letters. Please feel free to download these Word documents and personalize them with your letterhead or anything else you may want to add. Due to security concerns for letters sent to Congress, we suggest making arrangements for meetings via phone, fax, or e-mail.
